BYZANTINE Offers In-Studio Update, Touring Plans

March 27, 2007

West Virginia's forward-thinking thrashers BYZANTINE are currently in the studio finishing recording for the band's upcoming full-length, "Oblivion Beckons". Mixing will take place at Highview Studios by Drew Mazurek and the album will be mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. A late-summer release via Prosthetic Records is expected.

"The record is coming along really well," commented bassist Skip Cromer. "The sound is really good, we tried some redneck experiments to get some slamming tones and they ended up working. The majority of the songs definitely fall into the trash vein of things."

BYZANTINE recently took a short break from recording with producer Charles A. Fisher in Sissonville, WV to join up with GOD FORBID, ARSIS, GOATWHORE and MNEMIC for a brief trek throughout the Eastern U.S. The band is currently scheduling summer touring plans, including an appearance at Milwaukee Metalfest, Columbus' Independence Fest and Uprising Fest 2007 in Connecticut as well regional headlining shows.

BYZANTINE's forthcoming DVD, "Salvation", is also now available for pre-order here. The effort will feature a six-song live set — including the exclusive "Cradle Song", which will not appear on the forthcoming full-length record — as well as behind-the-scenes footage, the "Jeremiad" video, in-studio footage, interviews and tutorials, bootleg concert footage and more, totaling nearly four hours of material.
